The founder & Japanese Tutor
I founded Kokoro Japanese School as I gained 10+ years of experience as a Japanese teacher and discovered the immense joy and passion of spreading the wonderful Japanese culture and language to the world.
I was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan up until 16 and lived in different parts of the world up until now. I currently reside in Toronto, Canada. I've taught Japanese to children as young as 4 years old to adults with various Japanese language levels. I also hold a large group classes at York Region District School Board for elementary school-aged students.
I use my own teaching materials that I have accumulated over the past 10 years which I customize to each student's needs and level. I also believe cultural learnings are as important as the language, so I include a lot of fun and educational information about Japan in my classes!

I started my career as a teacher for British workers in Nomura Securities (a Japanese investment company) in London, UK, teaching beginners and intermediate level Japanese. I also worked as a Japanese teacher at a Japanese elementary school in London as well as at London University.
From these teaching experience, I've also ventured into teaching English once I was back in Japan and I have successfully ran my own English school with 15-20 students aging from 4 - 18 year olds for over 10 years.
My expertise is placed on working with children as I also hold a license as a kindergarten teacher and childcare worker in Japan, however I am open to teaching older students as well.

I graduated from a university in Kyoto and got qualified to teach elementary students in Japan.
I have been living in Canada for about 20 years. I homeschool all my kids and have been teaching the Japanese language online to students.
My students are from 6years old to adults (50s) right now.
I use 'Genki' for teens and older students, and 'Japanese for young people' for younger children, and I use other materials for addition. Any textbooks are always welcome. I can teach with the materials that suit you.Do you want to learn from Anime? Do you just want to speak in Japanese?
